On Tuesday, four families displaced due to bad weather were taken in by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and housed at Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras, the organization announced.
“A total of fifteen people, including children and the elderly, have been accepted to Cidade do Futebol, who will spend the night in a hotel serving the national teams,” the FPF said in a statement.
The federation expressed its readiness to provide assistance to families in need of temporary shelter to the municipality of Oeiras, and the municipality sent four families displaced due to bad weather.
“Following being used as a back-up hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, Casa dos Atletas now serves as a refuge for those unable to return to their homes,” he concludes.
Intense and incessant rain that fell at dawn on Tuesday caused hundreds of accidents, including floods, tree falls and cuts to roads in the areas of Lisbon, Setúbal and Portalegre, where there are records of several evacuees.
