Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni received death threats ahead of her scheduled visit Thursday to Caivano, a crime town near Naples where social benefits for low-income people are being cut.
Among the social media posts for the Italian prime minister is one from a woman in Naples who advised Meloni to stay at home, criticizing her for phasing out the minimum income to survive – one of the reasons behind the threats.
Another message said that locals should “greet fisherwoman Meloni with rotten tomatoes for taking away the livelihood of a group of people who live in these areas under conditions of instability.”
