This morning, Saturday, September 2, a fire engulfed a private house near Dorna, within the city of Guarda, and left a couple in their 50s and an adult son homeless.
The alarm was received at 09:00. “When we arrived, the roof was completely engulfed in flames and the fire quickly spread to the rest of the structure. The fire spread quickly due to the nature of the house: wooden and old construction,” explained Correio da Manhã Manuel. António Pereira, Commander of the Volunteer Fire Guard.
The house was left without living conditions, and representatives of the Municipal Civil Protection went to the place to assess the situation and then move the couple with their son to another house.
The owners of the house, who lived there for several years, are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry.
GNR has also claimed responsibility for the incident and will now investigate the cause of the fire.
