The President of the Republic assured this Wednesday that the silence of the Prime Minister during the Council of State, which was reported by various media, including Negosios, is not due to any problems between them.
“Prime Minister, when he was silent, it was not for some reason wantwith the President of the Republic,” Marcelo Rebelo de Souza told reporters after receiving the Champalimaud Vision award. “Looking at newspaper reports, I found a version of the prime minister’s silence that renunciation prime minister the next day, confessing that he “felt uncomfortable” about it because it didn’t fit my vision of what happened.”
“I read the news and was amazed,” the head of state said, recalling that “there is no final truth” until the minutes of the meeting of the State Council are approved by all council members unanimously.
“I acknowledge that there are those who feel offended that what I have said, or not said, or has been misinterpreted,” adding that “breach of secrecy is an issue that touches the conscience of government advisers.”
