Mark Dickey is 40 years old and lives in the village of Croton-on-Hudson in New York, USA. He was on an international expedition to a cave in Turkey when he suddenly fell ill and was trapped there.
Dicky is an experienced North American caver with cave rescue experience. He is an instructor for the National Commission for Speleological Rescue and Secretary of the Medical Commission of the European Association of Speleologists.
The caver is the executive director of Caving Academy, a non-profit caving organization, and a member of the New Jersey Primary Response Team.
Dickey was trapped in the Morca Cave in the Taurus Mountains on an international exploration mission. In a video recorded by Dicky inside the cave, the explorer thanked the speleological community and the Turkish government for their efforts to rescue him.
