That ’70s Show actor Danny Masterson was sentenced Thursday to 30 years to life for raping two women almost 20 years ago, in a case that has sparked controversy within the Church of Scientology.
Masterson looked relaxed as the women testified about the aftermath of the victims. He was given the opportunity to speak, but declined. “I forgive you. I can no longer carry your illness,” said one of the victims.
Danny Masterson met women through the Church of Scientology. Victims reported that the organization dissuaded them from contacting law enforcement agencies. The Church of Scientology denied this accusation and stated that Masterson’s religion should not have been the subject of this case.
The women said Masterson drugged and raped them in separate incidents between 2001 and 2003 at a home in the Hollywood Hills.
When Danny Masterson was first accused of sexually assaulting multiple women in 2017, he was fired from the Netflix series The Ranch.
