Portugal is preparing to send an air force plane to Marrakech to evacuate Portuguese people wanting to return to the country after an earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale hit Morocco on Friday evening.
Portuguese citizens wishing to return to their country should contact the Consular Emergency Section or the Portuguese Embassy in Rabat.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) has already contacted some Portuguese in Morocco, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
“All Portuguese people contacted so far are doing well and have not reported any health problems or significant property damage,” they said.
According to the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) “is in contact with Portuguese citizens in the country, especially in the area of the seismic epicenter.”
