Basketball player Kevin Porter Jr., who plays for the Houston Rockets of the North American Basketball League (NBA), was arrested in New York on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend, as a result of which, according to investigators, he broke a cervical vertebra.
According to investigators, the 23-year-old first baseman allegedly assaulted and attempted to strangle his girlfriend, fellow player Kisre Gondrezick, resulting in a fractured cervical vertebra and a cut to the eye area.
Kevin Porter Jr., who denied the charges, was eventually arrested in New York, with investigators saying the attacks continued until his girlfriend managed to escape from the hotel room where they were staying.
Selected 30th overall in the 2019 draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, Porter Jr. played in the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets, finishing last season with averages of 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5. 7 gears.
