Armed men try to break into the house of Brazil’s Economy Minister

A group of armed men attempted to invade the personal residence of Brazilian Economy Minister Fernando Haddad in the southern zone of the city of Sao Paulo early on Thursday morning, September 14. Haddad, who usually stays in Brasilia throughout the week, was at home with his family this morning due to a meeting in the capital Sao Paulo, but learned of the attempted invasion or robbery, which is still under investigation, at dawn. .

One of the house’s employees, arriving at work shortly before five in the morning this Thursday, at nine o’clock in the evening in Lisbon, noticed that the gate of the residence, located in an elegant area of ​​​​Indianapolis, had been forced open. She woke up the deputy, who began reviewing CCTV images from the residence and discovered the property had been broken into.

The images show the man arriving at the house around 3am and using a tool to break down the gate. A car then pulled up with four other men, who got out of the car with guns in their hands and walked through the broken gate, invading the space between it and the door leading into the interior of the house.

It is unknown why, after standing for some time near this door, the last obstacle between them and the minister and his family, the criminals simply drove away in the cars in which they arrived. The police were called and the military police in charge of ostensible public safety, the civilian police in charge of judicial investigations and, since Haddad is a minister, the federal police arrived on the scene.

There is still no evidence to confirm whether the intrusion was an attempted robbery, political intimidation, or something worse that somehow failed on the part of an extremist group. Civil police will try to identify the criminals by collecting fingerprints and new images in the region, while the Federal Police will investigate whether the criminal act had any political overtones.
