This Saturday, the captain of the port of Funchal issued a warning of severe sea disturbances on the coast of Madeira, which will remain in effect until 7:00 am on Sunday.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts northerly/northeasterly winds in the Madeira archipelago that are “moderate to cool, sometimes very cool, becoming northerly/northwesterly in the evening.”
On the northern coast the waves will be from the north/north-west, increasing from one to four meters, and on the southern part – from the west to two meters.
Along the waterfront, visibility will be “good to moderate, with some poor early in the morning.”
In view of the current situation, regional maritime authorities advise shipowners and shipowners to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
