The ex-banker’s defense had already demanded a neurological examination from Ricardo Salgado, but only the Cascais civil court allowed it in March, although it had not yet taken place. Last week, Lisbon Central Criminal Court judge Ana Paula Rosa agreed to the request of the former BES president’s lawyers and approved an investigation into the EDP case.
“Since this seems important for the correct resolution of the case, it has been decided to conduct a collegial examination in the neurological specialty of the defendant Ricardo Salgado (…), which will be carried out by the Institute of Forensic Medicine,” can be read in the order of the magistrate dated September 12, who also expressed the request to INML to appoint an examination “as a matter of urgency.”
Ricardo Salgado’s defense also asked for the trial to begin only after a neurological examination had been carried out, but the court rejected the request of lawyers Francisco Proenza de Carvalho and Adriano Squilache, “since it was understood that the examination was not absolutely necessary.” at the beginning of the trial,” which was scheduled for October 3.
