Reporters from Swedish television channel TV24 were the victim of one of multiple drone attacks launched by Russian forces in eastern Ukraine in recent days, leaving three of five militants slightly injured.
“We were lucky this time,” said journalist Johan Fredriksson, who escaped unharmed, as did photographer Daniel Zdolsek.
Less fortunate were a local producer and two Ukrainian officers accompanying reporters who were slightly injured while covering the aftermath of the conflict in the Zaporozhye region in the southeast of the country.
However, the car in which they were traveling and some of the work equipment were completely destroyed.
A “drone” (unmanned aerial vehicle) crashed into the back of a car with no one inside.
“This is something that millions of people in Ukraine suffer from every day,” Fredriksson told the broadcaster, who also shared photos of the damage caused by the incident.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson condemned the “absolutely horrific” attack and used the incident to highlight the impact of the Russian offensive on civilians, promising a detailed investigation.
