Six men and one woman, aged between 23 and 53, were arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a 54-year-old man in Ponta Delgada, Azores. According to a statement by the Judicial Police (PJ), the crime occurred on September 2 on public roads, the motive of which was revenge for a previous conflict arising from drug trafficking and consumption.
To commit the crime, the 53-year-old suspect lured the victim to the place where the other six characters were located.
“Using sharp and blunt objects, they caught the victim by surprise, inflicting several injuries to his head and torso, some of them potentially fatal, as a result of which death did not occur due to timely assistance and referral to hospital,” you can read in PJ’s statement.
The police investigations involved six house searches, culminating in the collection and seizure of vital evidence and synthetic drugs.
The detainees were present at the first judicial interrogation, while only one of the suspects was kept in custody. Two of them were subject to a ban on contact or proximity to the victim and a daily reporting order to the police station. The remaining four did not receive custodial measures.
