Joe Jonas has denied he “kidnapped” the children he shares with Sophie Turner.
After the actress accused him of illegally detaining three-year-old Willa and one-year-old DJ in New York, the singer said his ex-wife’s language was “misleading” in a statement released this Thursday and quoted by the publication Today.
“The children were not abducted. After being in Joe’s custody for the past three months, the children are now with their mother by agreement of both parties. “Sophie is making this announcement only to move the divorce proceedings to the UK and take their children out of the US permanently,” the statement reads.
The actress is demanding that her ex-partner give her back custody of the children, but Joe Jonas is seeking “joint custody” by agreeing that Willa and DJ are being “raised in both the US and the UK.”
“Joe has already denied any statements allegedly made on his behalf that were disparaging to Sophie. They were made without his approval and are not in accordance with his views. “He wishes Sophie to reconsider her rigid legal position and put forward a more constructive and private one,” concluded the statement on behalf of the singer.
