In Lisbon, a man was arrested on suspicion of raping two young women, aged 21 and 22.
According to a statement from the Judicial Police (PJ), the suspect arranged a meeting with one of the victims last Sunday, September 17. Through a social media scam, he convinced her that he had a job offer.
“When they found themselves on a public road, the attacker immediately threatened her with a sharp weapon and took her to a forested area, away from populated areas, to sexually assault her there,” the aforementioned body said in a statement. .
Thanks to the evidence collected, authorities were able to link the case to another rape situation that occurred in mid-August, in which the perpetrator reached the victim through a similar pattern. This time the sexual predator introduced himself as a person renting a room.
“For the development of the investigation, the expert intervention of the SP Scientific Police Laboratory was essential, namely in the collection, analysis, comparison and rapid identification of biological traces,” the SP reports.
The 30-year-old detainee, already mentioned by the police, attended his first judicial interrogation at the Lisbon Criminal Court and was remanded in custody.
