An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, the epicenter of which was approximately 30 kilometers west of Leon in Spain, was recorded this Saturday at 13:46 at stations of the Continental Seismic Network, IPMA reports.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, no information has yet been recorded to confirm that this earthquake was felt on the Portuguese mainland.
The IPMA said further earthquake announcements will be issued if the situation warrants.
According to the agency, determining the location of the epicenter of an earthquake is a complex physical and mathematical process that depends on a set of data, algorithms and models of seismic wave propagation.
Different agencies may give slightly different results for the same earthquake. Likewise, preliminary determinations are usually adjusted later by integrating additional information in accordance with the IPMA.
