A suicide bomber blew himself up in a car this Sunday near the Ministry of Interior in Turkey. The suspect had an accomplice who was shot dead by Turkish police.

The report by news agency ANF News came after two attackers detonated a bomb in front of the Turkish government building in Ankara, killing both and injuring two police officers. According to a website close to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Kurdish militants claimed responsibility for the attack. The statement described the attack as a “suicide attack” planned for the opening of parliament and carried out by “our team associated with our Immortal Battalion.”

“Two terrorists appeared on board a car at about 9:30 (minus two in Lisbon) in front of the entrance gate of the Main Security Directorate of our Ministry of Internal Affairs and committed an explosion,” the department said. , reporting two police injuries.
According to Reuters, the attack on Ataturk Avenue was the first in Ankara since 2016 and occurred on the day when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will participate in the opening of a parliament session located a kilometer from the site of the explosion.
