According to the National Information System for Water Resources (SNIRH), the amount of water stored in September decreased in all river basins compared to the last day of the previous month.
However, September stocks in river basins were above average, with the exception of the Sado, Mira, Guadiana, Arade and Barlavento basins. The Barlavento basin is still the place with the least amount of water – only 7.7%, while the average is 54%.
Of the 60 monitored reservoirs, in 10 the water supply exceeded 80% of the total volume, and in 19 it was less than 40%.
According to SNIRH data available this Wednesday, at the end of September Barlavento (7.7%), Arade (26.7%), Mira (31.2%), Sado (36.2%), Ave (51.8% ) and Oste (53.5%).

Stocks by river basin in September 2023 were generally above the September average (1990/91 to 2021/22), with the exception of the Sado, Guadiana, Mira, Ribeiras do Algarve and Arade river basins.
