United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres expressed this Thursday his “deep concern” about what he called “retaliatory bombings” in various parts of Syria, like the one that killed about 70 people this Thursday. EFE reports this.
Guterres mentioned, among other things, the attack on a military academy in Homs in western Syria, which killed about 70 people. The drone attack targeted a graduation ceremony at a military school in Homs, one of the deadliest attacks on government forces in recent years, with the perpetrators still unknown.
In a statement, Guterres said he condemned any violence in Syria and called on “all parties to respect their obligations under humanitarian law,” insisting that “a truce is necessary for a meaningful political process.”
