At 104, Dorothy Hoffner became the oldest person in the world to jump with a parachute and entered the Guinness Book of Records.
The jump took place on Sunday in the United States of America and was watched by a group of attentive spectators who applauded Dorothy’s feat in unison.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to feel the ground beneath you,” Dorothy explained in an interview with the agency. Reuters. The woman emphasized that we can do “these things when we feel good.”
A woman living in Chicago, Illinois, argued that fear must be overcome and emphasized that she was not old, but rather “older” than before. Despite her age, Dorothy underestimates her achievement and admits that she does not understand why so many people applauded her: “I loved that moment, but I couldn’t understand why there were so many people there.”
This was not the first adventure for Dorothy Hoffner, who jumped out of a plane for the first time four years ago. Now she did not need to be pushed out of the plane. However, she managed to take the initiative and take control of the jump with the support of a professional skydiver who accompanied her during the process and gave her stability the moment they reached the ground.
Dorothy is waiting for her record to be confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records, but until then she may have a new challenge to take on: flying in a hot air balloon for the first time.
