Migration was a point of contention between European countries at the meeting of the Arraiolos Group this Friday in Porto, but the President of the Republic noted that the solution lies in Africa and left a message: “It would be good if the European countries are the ones who complain so much about this phenomenon , would help Portugal there so that they don’t have a problem here,” said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, referring to the Portuguese armed forces involved in conflicts on the continent.
The heads of 14 states wanted Europe to become a “global power” and supported Ukraine, but there were still doubts about changing the treaties.
As for Portugal, Marcelo was “concerned” about the health issues he was monitoring during the meeting and assured that he would try to “keep the dialogue going as much as possible.”
Regarding the state budget for 2024, the President of the Republic called the government’s forecast for economic growth at 1.5% “cautious.”
