Firefighters demobilized this Sunday morning after an operation related to a fire that struck a pellet production plant in Arganil, some 75 hours after it started, a source from the subregional command of the Coimbra region said.
According to the same source, the firefighters demobilized around 9 a.m.
The fire alarm was raised at a pellet (small cylinders of pressed wood) production plant located in Sarcedo, in the municipality of Arganil, Coimbra district, at 5:56 am on Thursday.
At the time, Arganil Volunteer Fire Department commander Fernando Gonçalves had already warned that it would take time to extinguish the fire – without casualties – due to the “large amount of wood chips” that were burning in the warehouse.
This is the same pellet company that had a fire at its plant in August.
