Two bodies, a man and a woman, were found floating this Sunday off the coast of the port of Aveiro, the causes of the events are unknown.
“Following warnings received from fishing vessels in the area, crew members of the Aveiro rescue station, members of the local command of the Aveiro Marine Police, Ilhavo volunteer firefighters and representatives of the port community of Aveiro,” the National Police said. This is stated in a message from the Maritime Department.
The man’s body was found around 12:00, the woman’s body was found around 19:00. Both bodies were in a supine position and in an advanced stage of decomposition and were taken to the Aveiro Forensic Department for autopsy.
There are strong reasons to believe that the bodies belong to a couple who went missing on September 29 in Povoa de Varzim.
The local maritime police command of Aveiro took responsibility for the incident.
