The PSP arrested on Tuesday three people aged between 18 and 40 who were allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the Pasteleira Nova area of Porto, seizing 20 thousand doses, it was announced this Wednesday.
According to the PSP, the police operation to prevent crime and combat the trafficking of prohibited weapons in the area was launched by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Capital Command at 12:30 pm on Tuesday. search for houses in the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.
During the police operation, approximately 16,405 doses of heroin, 4,369 doses of cocaine, 20 doses of Liamba, 18 doses of hashish, as well as more than 9,522 euros, two firearms and 32 ammunition, two cars and a motorcycle, as well as scales, cars, mills, presses and various items used in the preparation, packaging and direct sale of medicines.
The PSP statement also said that two men, aged 18 and 40, and a 37-year-old woman, living in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, were arrested.
Those detained will be brought before the judicial authorities for the application of competent coercive measures.
On Tuesday, Porto Consumption Monitoring Program coordinator Diana Castro said the return of drug trafficking to the Pasteleira area was “already obvious” and defended the need to find solutions to accommodate users.
The program coordinator, who spoke with Lusa after a warning was left by residents of the Pasteleira and Pinheiro Torres neighborhoods, said she believed the return of drug trafficking was due to the departure of police officers from the area.
In a conversation with Lusa, Diana Castro emphasized that when drug trafficking increases, the number of people seeking help for consumption immediately increases.
