The Public Ministry (MP) claims that former Minister of Internal Administration (MAI) Eduardo Cabrita and his former security chief Nuno Diaz. must not proceed to trial over a fatal collision on the A6 in 2021. According to the deputy, only the driver, Marco Pontes, should be held accountable for negligent homicide.
During preliminary arguments in the case, which are taking place at the Court of Appeal of Évora (TRE), a parliamentary judge found that there was insufficient evidence to support the decision of the two accused.
On June 18, 2021, in the municipality of Évora, an employee of a company carrying out repair work on the A6 motorway was hit and killed by a car driven by the then MAI.
