On Tuesday, just after midnight, an Opel Corsa car was reported stolen in Gondomar. Fanzeres GNR soldiers began patrolling and discovered the vehicle in the corresponding combat area. The driver, a 35-year-old man, realized the authorities were present and fled. Reinforcements were called from the PPR detachment from Gaya, Porto and Valongo.
For what CM As it turned out, the vehicle was intercepted by the Valongo patrol on Cimo da Costa Street. The military blocked the passage, but the suspect still tried to escape and crashed into a police car. Two Guard soldiers were slightly injured and were taken to the São João hospital in Porto. They were released from the hospital early Tuesday morning.
The suspect was arrested for dangerous driving and vehicle theft and will appear in court today to face enforcement action.
