Sam matched five numbers in the game, becoming the winner of over a million players. “I was taking a shower and thought I’d give it a try,” the young man explained to the newspaper. “I saw Dean Wames celebrating his victory and thought about placing a bet. “I downloaded the National Lottery app, deposited a tenner into my account and then played LuckyDip,” he added.
“It was only an hour, maybe 90 minutes after I played for the first time and I saw a message on my phone saying I had won the second prize of £10,000 a month for 12 months,” Sam said.
The young man explained that since he had never played, he asked his 20-year-old girlfriend Connie Bell to check the message. However, since they had never played before, they decided to turn to Connie’s brother, Craig, for help.
“I’m on my way, don’t move,” Craig said. “We sat there in disbelief, wondering if it was true,” Sam explains.
Sam and Connie started by planning a trip to New York with the goal of buying a house, getting Sam a driver’s license, and buying a car.
The young man bought the ticket on August 12, 2019, and the winning numbers were 3, 20, 26, 27 and 32.
