Putin arrived in Kazakhstan this Thursday on an official visit to a country that the Kazakh president considers to be of great political and even historical importance.
“We have good opportunities to guarantee our interests and help many of our partners in the world, in global markets. This is exactly what we are doing,” he emphasized.
Before the start of bilateral negotiations, Tokayev and Putin addressed the participants of the XIX Kazakh-Russian Forum of Interregional Cooperation via videoconference.
“Our countries have enormous opportunities to expand trade and mutually beneficial cooperation in the agricultural sector. Suffice it to note that Kazakhstan and Russia are among the largest producers of agricultural products and among the top ten world leaders in grain exports,” said the President of Kazakhstan. forum participants.
Tokayev recalled that both countries own almost 10% of the planet’s arable land and 9% of pastures.
Putin, in turn, emphasized that Russia is an important supplier to Kazakhstan of products such as wheat, barley, poultry, sugar and dairy products.
The Russian President added that bilateral trade in agricultural and food products overall increased by 22% last year, amounting to four billion dollars (3.75 billion euros).
