This Friday morning, maritime authorities rescued a bitch from the Bugio Lighthouse on the Tahoe River.
On Tuesday, a warning was issued about the presence of an animal near the Lighthouse. Officials from the Lighthouse Authority were called to the scene and found the “visibly frightened” dog, according to the statement.
Over the course of the week, units of the Maritime Police and the Official Animal Collection Center of the Municipality of Oeiras (CROAMO) tried several times to rescue the dog, but until they succeeded, they fed and drank the animal.
This Friday morning, after yet another rescue attempt, the dog was safely retrieved and verified that the animal did not have a chip.
After being rescued, he was taken to CROAMO for examination and deworming.
