Poland’s parliament will hold its first meeting on Monday after legislative elections on October 15, but the new government proposed by the victorious Law and Justice (PiS) party is expected to be rejected by the majority of the opposition.
The parliament meeting comes after Polish President Andrzej Duda instructed populist conservatives from the PiS party and incumbent Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to form a government as the party with the most votes.
However, the new chief executive should not resist voting against the alliance of opposition forces led by the Civic Platform (CP) of former prime minister and former European Council President Donald Tusk, which together hold 248 of the 460 seats in the lower house of parliament (Sejm) and agree on an alternative board.
