American hip-hop star Sean Combs, known as Puff Daddy or Diddy, was the subject of allegations Thursday of years of rape and physical abuse by R&B singer Casandra Venura, whose stage name is Cassie.
According to a Manhattan federal court document, Combs “frequently punched, kicked and stomped on Ventura, resulting in bruises, split lips, black eyes and bleeding.”
The 35-page complaint, filed Thursday in the US federal justice system, alleges that Puff Daddy subjected the singer to severe beatings, drugged her, forced her to have sex with other men while he masturbated, and filmed it.
It also says Combs broke into Ventura’s home and raped her as the relationship was ending in 2018.
Casandra Ventura alleged in her lawsuit against the producer and music mogul that Combs lured her into his “ostentatious, fast-paced, drug-fuelled lifestyle” shortly after they met and she signed to his label when she was 19 years old. . he was 37 years old in 2005.
The musician’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, did not immediately respond to a request for reaction from The Associated Press (AP), but assured the New York Times that his client denies the allegations.
Ventura, now 37, said Combs, now 54, began experiencing violence shortly after they met.
“After years of silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story and speak out on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships,” Ventura said in a statement.
Combs is a three-time Grammy Award winner and one of hip-hop’s most influential producers and executives of the last three decades.
