This Sunday morning, a 45-year-old man was shot and attacked as he walked along the Military Bandstand da Damaya in Amadora. He was shot seven times, almost all in the chest and stomach, another in the leg, and left for dead.
The crime alarm was raised at 10:24 a.m., but when PSP and firefighters arrived on scene, the man was alive, conscious and still able to talk to agents.
He was reportedly shot with a small-caliber pistol and was eventually transported to Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon. Although seriously injured, his injuries are not life-threatening.
The attack took place near the old neighborhood of Bairro 6 de Mayo. The judicial police have taken over the investigation and are trying to understand the motives for the attempted murder.
