A Jack Russell terrier dog has been found next to the body of its owner, who had been missing for months in the San Juan Mountains in southern Colorado, USA. The information was posted on the Taos Search and Rescue Facebook page.
Finney was rescued on October 30 after a hunter discovered the body of Rich Moore, his guardian. The animal lost about half its weight but remained stable.
“This dog’s devotion brings us to tears,” said one of the women involved in Finny’s rescue.
Rich Moore, 71, went hiking in the mountains with Phinney on August 19th. The goal was to reach the summit of Blackhead Peak, but it was eventually never heard from again.
Rescue teams told CNN that all indications are that Finny survived by drinking creek water and eating small animals such as rats or squirrels.
