Angolan President Joao Lourenco will be received by his North American counterpart Joe Biden next Thursday as part of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the White House announced.
The two heads of state are also expected to discuss next steps to deepen bilateral cooperation on trade, investment, climate and energy, as well as the development of President Biden’s Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI) for the Lobito Corridor.
This rail infrastructure will connect Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia to global markets through the Angolan port of Lobito.
The meeting will be guided by the principles of the U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit, particularly on how the United States and African countries can continue to work together to address regional and global challenges, according to a White House statement.
