A helicopter crashed on a motorway in Madrid this morning Friday, the newspaper reports. World. There are at least three wounded.
The first two recorded injuries, one with a fractured femur and the other with a traumatic brain injury, were sustained by members of the aircraft’s crew. The third victim was a driver driving along the highway, whose car was hit by a propeller.
The fall was probably caused by a strong gust of wind. The accident occurred shortly after the trip began, and during the short trip the helicopter flew very close to a gas station.
The plane, broken in half, was heading to Cuatro Vientos airport in Madrid after participating in the international European Rotors exhibition in the Spanish capital.
Madrid firefighters are at the scene providing assistance to the victims. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
“We should be grateful because no one’s life is in danger. It could have been much more serious,” said Inmaculada Sanz, a delegate at the Madrid Assembly for Security and Emergency Management.
The M-40 motorway remains closed and is causing queues of more than two kilometers.
