“Deputy Joaquim Pinto Moreira, an MP whom I have known very well for many years, resigns today as Vice President of the PSD Parliamentary Group and President of the Constitutional Review Committee,” Luis Montenegro said in an interview. with the SIC TV channel under the direction of journalist Bernardo Ferrao.
The PSD leader said the decision was agreed with Joaquim Pinto Moreira on Tuesday: “I had a conversation that day after due diligence. [judiciais] when he came to me precisely to try to understand what was going on.”

Joaquim José Pinto Moreira was first elected as an MP in the 2022 legislative elections, becoming Vice President of the Social Democratic Bench under Joaquim Miranda Sarmento after Luis Montenegro took over as SDP President.
Pinto Moreira was recently appointed by the PSD to chair the Constitutional Review Commission, which took office on 4 January.
Pinto Moreira was one of Montenegro’s main supporters in its rise to leadership, being one of the few prominent militants present when, in January 2019, he called on then-president Rui Rio to make the first direct calls.
