Given the victim’s difficulty breathing, firefighters called CODU at 10:46 a.m. to find out which department he should be taken to. Having received no answer, they went to the Santarem hospital and had already arrived at the emergency room when CODU called back at 11:02. The INEM operator considered the case an emergency and called VMER to provide emergency life support to the woman in the fire ambulance.
At 11:39 a.m., it was the medical team’s turn to call CODU and ask for transportation advice. Faced with further lack of response, they asked the emergency physician to admit the woman. The patient arrived at 11:47 am and was tested at 12:02 pm using an orange bracelet. INEM explains that they activated VMER “so that the user can be immediately assessed by a medical team.”
INEM assisted a child in an emergency
On Friday evening, the INEM team rescued a two-year-old child at the entrance to the San Sebastian hospital in Santa Maria da Feira, as the pediatric ward was closed due to doctors’ refusal to work extra hours. up to 150 overtime hours provided by law.
