The Liberal Initiative wants to force former Health Minister Marta Temido into parliament. Rui Rocha announced CM that the party will make a potential request to hear the former ruler after the PS votes against it.
The IL president also said he will ask a number of questions to current Health Minister Manuel Pizarro before he is heard in parliament, which will happen later this month.
The case dates back to 2019, when girls suffering from spinal muscular atrophy were treated with the drug Zolgensma, costing more than four million euros.
“We must find out whether there was any favoritism here or not, and if there was favoritism, we must know who contributed to this favoritism,” the IL president said on the sidelines of the health committee.
Rui Rocha emphasized that the Liberal Initiative was “the only party that asked to reveal the truth at home, without prejudice to other headquarters.”
The IL leader believes that it is the parliament that has the right to know how this issue was resolved, and therefore he intends to listen to former Health Minister António Lacerda Sales and former Health Minister Marta Temido “precisely to clarify” this issue.
