European Union (EU) fisheries ministers will meet between this Sunday and Monday in Brussels to reach an agreement on Atlantic and Mediterranean fishing quotas for 2024.
The meeting, the last of which was chaired by Spanish Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Luis Planas, will also attempt to set multi-year quotas for the first time.
This Sunday there will be bilateral meetings between the Spanish Presidency of the European Council and member states, as well as meetings between the Presidency, states and the European Commission to advance negotiations.
The first compromise proposal has already been sent by the Spanish Presidency to the Member States.
On Monday, the meeting will resume early in the morning with technical talks.
In the worst case scenario, if negotiations take longer, a compromise text should be ready by 22:30 (local time), after which a meeting should take place with all parties involved.
