Ruth Shmilo, a prison guard in Wales, is accused of having a five-month relationship with an inmate at the prison where she worked. The case dates back to 2020 and 2021 and is currently pending.
According to the newspaper TelegraphThe 26-year-old woman allegedly adopted a “seductive” pose when interacting with inmates and wore inappropriate clothing during working hours.
A prison guard is on trial accused of having a five-month relationship with drug dealer Harry Pullen and even having phone sex with him.
The woman appeared in court this Wednesday following complaints made by directors at Bridgend Prison in South Wales. There are even reports that the young woman may have had a relationship with a second prisoner.
Prosecuting barrister Matthew Cobbe said the prison received 20 complaints between January and April 2021 which raised concerns about Ruth’s behaviour, including her choice of uniform.
According to the prosecution, the officer wore trousers that were “too tight”, which attracted the attention of fellow inmates. “The pants were very tight and unsuitable,” the lawyer emphasized.
“There were other pants, but she [Ruth] I wasn’t happy with the way they fit on my body and the way they looked,” Matthew Cobbe said.
Ruth was eventually fired because of her interactions with fellow inmates. The woman was seen talking and whispering to inmates, an attitude that raised concerns among her colleagues about security within the prison premises.
Ruth’s trial will continue over the next five days. He has so far denied committing misconduct in public office.
