According to a source from the ANEPC sub-regional command in Leiria, the fire in two pellet silos at the CMC Biomassa plant in the Juncal industrial zone “started at 17:10” and mobilized eight rescuers and 20 operational staff.
The incident, approximately an hour after the alarm, was “under control” as it was “yielding to the efforts” of firefighting equipment.
The subregional office of the civil protection department has a record of the victim, an industrial hub worker, but there is no additional information about his condition.
There is “no possibility” of the fire spreading to any other unit in the area, the same source said.
