A 57-year-old man died this Wednesday after falling into a well in the parish of Santa Marinha, municipality of Ribeira de Penha, said a source from the Alto Tamega regional subcommand.
The source said that firefighters from Ribeira de Penha were called to rescue the victim, who took the man away, as well as a medical team from an INEM helicopter from Macedo de Cavaleiros, who pronounced him dead on the spot.
The victim was an employee of the National Corps of Forestry Agents (CNAF) and worked for the Institute of Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF).
The alarm was raised at 15:12 and a helicopter, six vehicles, 19 firefighters and INEM personnel were mobilized to the scene.
The body was taken to the Medina Law Institute for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
