Infarmed has ordered the suspension and withdrawal from the market of L’Oréal-branded cosmetic products containing an ingredient banned since March 2022, according to information published by the organization.
According to an informative circular published on the official website of Infarmed — Autoridade Nacional do Medicamentos e Produtos de Saúde, the organization “as part of a market check, checked the availability on the national market of cosmetic products distributed by L. Oréal Portugal, Unipessoal, Lda. Which contained in their composition the ingredient butylphenylmethylpropional.
“Although L’Oréal Portugal, Unipessoal, Lda. informed INFARMED, IP about the measures to collect and withdraw from the national market cosmetic products containing the ingredient butylphenylmethylpropional, on the analysis of the information available to date. , it appears that the said company failed to demonstrate the collection of non-conforming cosmetic products in the entire national market,” the circular states.
The Medicines Regulatory Authority cites in the post that the brand has “proved to INFARMED, IP that it has proceeded to reformulate/reformulate cosmetic products in a timely manner to not contain an ingredient” banned in cosmetics as of March 1, 2022, however , “organizations that may have these products cannot make them available.”
Infarmed is also asking merchants who still have products with this ingredient to contact the brand and emphasizes that “consumers who still have these products should not use them.”
