Brazilian authorities said a plane crashed in the residential area of Jaboticabal in the interior of Sao Paulo state in Brazil this Saturday, killing five people, including a child.
As reported by Efe, citing Brazilian firefighters, the single-engine plane crashed on an avenue in Jaboticabal at 09:00 local time (12:00 Lisbon time).
The device, manufactured in 2012 and with valid legal documentation, fell from the sky and caught fire after hitting the ground, a fire department source told Efe.
Brazilian authorities found five burnt victims, according to the Spanish news agency.
Police were also called to the scene to investigate the cause of the crash, with a preliminary investigation revealing that the number of passengers exceeded the maximum capacity allowed for the aircraft model.
Jaboticabal is located about 350 kilometers from Sao Paulo, the most populous city in Brazil and the capital of the state of the same name.
