The US Navy has sunk three ships belonging to Yemen’s Houthi rebels who attacked a Danish container ship in the Red Sea, AFP reports.
According to the news agency, which quotes a statement from the US Military Middle East Command (Centcom), US Navy helicopters “returned fire in self-defense, sinking three of the four small boats and killing the crews.”
Centcom explained that the US Navy was responding to a request for assistance from the Maersk Hangzhou, a Singapore-flagged container ship owned and operated by Denmark that was attacked for the second time in 24 hours while sailing in the Red Sea.
