A man was arrested for assaulting a PSP agent in the Lisbon Metropolitano last Wednesday.
Off-duty police on their way home intervened to stop an argument between two people on a Red Line train. The suspect stood with his feet on the bench, preventing passengers from sitting down.
The police identified themselves and the man tried to escape from the carriage at Chelas station. The law enforcement officer restrained the suspect, but grabbed her by the neck and kicked, pushed and punched her in the chest, while simultaneously pulling her shirt. The passenger tried to help her and stop the man’s aggressive behavior, but in the end he was beaten.
Upon the train’s arrival at Estação do Oriente, several police officers who were already waiting for them stopped and detained the suspect.
The detainee, who has a 20-year history of assaults, was notified to appear in court, where, as is known, CMthreatened the witness with violence.
