Brazilian President Lula da Silva promised this Monday in a speech marking the anniversary of the coup attempt that all those involved in the act would be “exactly punished.”
“All those who financed, planned and carried out the coup attempt must be punished in an exemplary manner. There is no forgiveness for those who attack democracy, their country and their own people. Forgiveness will sound like impunity,” said the head of the Brazilian state.
At a major institutional ceremony called “Enduring Democracy” in the Congress under the leadership of the President of Brazil, marking the anniversary of the coup attempt carried out by supporters of his predecessor Jair Bolsonaro, which brought together the authorities of all countries, authorities, governors, ministers and representatives of civil society, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stressed that he does not want impunity to become “a safe passage for new terrorist attacks.”
