The Boeing plane that made an emergency landing on Friday after a window fell out was grounded on flights to Hawaii after a warning light came on on three separate flights.
Alaska Airlines has decided to limit long-haul flights over water so the plane “can quickly return to the airport” if the warning light comes on again, the president of the National Safety Council said Sunday. in North American Transportation, Jennifer Homendy.
However, the official noted that the pressure indicator could not be linked to Friday’s incident, when a plane made an emergency landing in Portland, in the northwest US, after a window and part of the fuselage fell off.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Saturday approved recommendations to inspect the doors of other Max 9 aircraft in the same model as the Boeing 737 and repair them if necessary.
This measure should allow the 171 parked aircraft to be returned to service.
Alaska Airlines and United Airlines are the only North American airlines to operate this Boeing 737 model, with 64 and 79 aircraft respectively.
After the incident, Alaska Airlines said the plane landed safely with 174 passengers and six crew members.
The hole caused the cabin to depressurize, but the company did not provide information about whether anyone was injured or a possible cause.
