Three men, aged between 18 and 47 years old, detained by the Porto Judicial Police (PJ) on suspicion of an armed robbery of a supermarket on October 12 in Povoa de Varzim, were remanded in pre-trial detention.
The robbery occurred that day between 12:40 and 13:00. The suspects entered the retail establishment, threatened them with a pistol and a knife, stole money from the cash register, unsuccessfully tried to open the safe and fled.
This Wednesday, when approached by the judicial police, one of the suspects tried to hit one of the police inspectors while escaping in a car. Then he abandoned the car and tried to escape on foot, but was detained in Mindelo, Vila do Conde.
The suspects present at the initial interview were charged with aggravated robbery, theft, possession of a prohibited weapon and a crime committed with a weapon, as well as resisting and coercing an officer. They were released into preventive detention, and two of them were considered possible to be placed under house arrest.
