The representative and sole deputy of PAN, Ines de Sousa Real, will again lead the Lisbon list in the next legislative elections, with the party replacing the number one in Porto, which in these elections will be Anabela Castro.
At an event in Lisbon where the leaders of the party’s lists for the March 10 elections were presented, it was announced that Ines de Sousa Real will again lead the list of the Lisbon constituency.
Among the many changes in the heads of the lists for the 2022 legislative elections, the most striking highlight is the change in Porto, whose candidacy will be led by Anabela Castro (who was number two in the last legislative elections), a seat held in parliament. the last vote was conducted by former PAN MP Bebiana Cunha.
Bebiana Cunha, according to Sousa Real’s statement, will be the campaign representative for the Porto district.
“I know that although I was not alone in this mandate – I was with each of you – on March 10 I will no longer be alone and we will move towards a parliamentary group,” Ines de Souza Real said in his speech. This election goal was already outlined at the recent celebration of the party’s 13th anniversary.
The party representative left “a warning for Pedro Nuno Santos and Luis Montenegro.”
“The Portuguese now have an alternative to the PS and PSD, because voting for them and expecting a different result will not work,” he emphasized.
Assuring that it is a “buffer for the far right”, Sousa Real said the party is a “progressive force of empathy and respect for non-violence” and is proving to be “an extremely useful alternative to democracy” and responsible.
“On March 10, the Portuguese will not only be able to elect an absolute majority, but they will also give strength to the causes that use us, to give strength to the causes that we represent, because it is for them that we move forward,” he said, referring to the motto of this election campaign: “We move forward for the cause.”
The sole PAN deputy also showed “great pride” in the deputy elected to the Regional Assembly of Madeira, Monica Freitas, and set a goal for the elections that will now be held in another autonomous region: “Soon we will have elections in I and the Azores, let’s not hope less than achieving the same political influence that we had in Madeira.”
Sousa Real also believes the party deserves the trust of the Portuguese despite a “difficult political moment” that is breeding distrust in politicians, alluding to recent cases that led to the resignation of Prime Minister Antonio Costa.
PAN will present lists in 22 constituencies in the March 10 elections, but in only five of them will it retain the same name as the number one it chose in the last legislative elections.
Thus, in addition to Ines de Sousa Real from Lisbon, Rafael Pinto from Braga, Octavio Pires from Braganca, Joao Costa from Coimbra and Nelson Abreu from Fora da Europa will repeat.
In other districts, who is at the top of the list changes, who in some cases was already a candidate, but in a different place.
From Aveiro’s side it will be Ana Gonçalves, from Beja Luis Coentro, from Castelo Branco’s side Ricardo Mota Nunez, from Évora’s side Sergio Neves, from Faro Saul Rosa’s side, from Guarda’s side João Almeida and from Leiria’s side Rodrigo Andrade.
Thelma Espirito Santo tops the list in Portalegre, Dinarte Pimentel in the Azores, Marco Gonçalves in Madeira, Vera Matos in Santarem, Alexandra Moreira in Setubal, Isabel Rhodes in Viana do Castelo, Rui Oliveira in Vila Real, Carolina Pia in Viseu and Paulo Vieira de Castro around Europe.
In the latest legislative elections, the PAN, which elected a parliamentary group of four MPs in 2019, was demoted to the status of one MP after losing almost half of its votes.
